I started blogging less than a year ago. I was looking to give, yet I think I have received much more. Little gifts started arriving in emails, on blogs, and in feeds. I was hoping to exchange ideas, yet I never expected to receive life-changing gifts in return.
These gifts have stirred something in me. I am not the same. I am renewed and redefined. Connections are blooming. And, roots are starting to grow from me.
“Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I’m through with playing by the rules
Of someone else’s game.” ~ Defying Gravity, Glee Soundtrack
Your stories of triumphs and struggles have inspired me. To let go of playing by the rules that don’t work for me.
Like most great gifts, I want to share them with others. I want these gifts to keep on giving. To leave a postmark with you, as they have left their inspiration on me.
Unexpected Gifts I Received This Year
- Barrie’s Write to Serve: Giving Deeper Purpose to Your Craft
- Katie’s Eat, Pray, Blog
- Belinda’s Renewal
- Katie’s Do You Have Your Own Chair?
- Linda’s What Will You Risk for the First Time This Week?
- Ami’s Your Writing Is Good Enough: Lessons from Bad Poetry
- Ande’s Are You Over-Caring for Your Desires?
- Stephanie’s Be a Hero…Save Your Own Life
You may not know that you have left your inspiration with me to grow. And, you may not realize how much you are defying gravity. You are not letting others hold you back. You are defining your own rules to live by.
Defying Your Own Gravity
Whatever is holding you back from more fully enjoying each day, know that you can defy this gravity. You can identify small steps that can grow to create big change. The trick is holding onto those small steps when others try to drag you back down.
These little gifts of liberation have stirred me to act. To make changes, renew lost intentions, & find new choices:
- Create space in my life for creativity
- Cherish renewal and release
- Less than perfect is good enough
- Write from my life (not write to live)
- Slow down and enjoy the journey
- Life is now, not later
- Coaches and stories are in all of us
It’s not enough to just read about it, how will we use it? To make a difference in our own lives or in others.
“Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It’s time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes: and leap!” ~ Defying Gravity, Glee Soundtrack
It’s too late to go back. I can’t return. I am changing. I don’t want to go back to sleep. I want to open my eyes to possibilities. To the lessons each new day brings.
Words can be the igniter that we need to transform our lives. To defy gravity. To liberate ourselves. Start small, and watch it grow.
What big change are you wanting to unwrap next year?
